If you learned anchoring on a practitioner course, you probably learned it as a stage technique. Tap the knee. Squeeze the shoulder. Press the knuckle. It worked on the course because everyone agreed to play along. With real clients, it often falls flat, because the anchor felt artificial and the client knew exactly what you were doing.

Real-world anchoring is invisible. It's done with voice tone, location in space, breath rhythm, and timing. It's done in the natural flow of conversation, so subtly that the client doesn't notice it being set, only that the resourceful state shows up the next time the trigger appears. That's the skill. The dramatic version we learned was scaffolding. The subtle version is the actual work.
