It's the most common stuck point in a session, and one of the most under-taught. The client hits a question, pauses, and says "I don't know." And most practitioners do one of three things. They rephrase the question. They answer it for them. Or they move on. All three are mistakes, and each teaches the client that "I don't know" is a way out.

In this practice group, we'll look at what's actually happening when a client says "I don't know," and what to do instead. Most of the time, they do know. They just haven't given themselves permission to say it out loud, or they're testing whether you'll let them off the hook.
